Did We Forget How to Think? Common Core, Cults & Road Rage | #1069

About this Episode

Episode 1069: Common Core Math, Cults & Road Rage

Has the world completely lost its common sense?

Welcome back aboard The Mason and Friends Show, where the conversations are uncensored, the humor is unpredictable, and the crew has been sailing the murky waters since 2017.

In Episode 1069, Mason and the crew explore everything from education and financial literacy to workplace frustrations, American history, strange cults, and the questionable driving habits of everyday Americans.

The conversation kicks off with workplace frustrations, including attendance point systems, disciplinary actions, and the impact these policies can have on employee raises. From there, the crew explores food truck businesses and the often-overlooked hustle of bringing meals directly to busy workplaces.

Common Core Math and Financial Education

Are schools teaching children the skills they actually need?

The crew discusses Common Core math, alternative teaching methods, and the need for practical financial education. Why do so many young adults enter the workforce without fully understanding banking terminology, credit, taxes, or interest rates?

Politics, American History and Media Influence

The discussion expands into historical and political subjects, including Reconstruction after the Civil War, wealth and power, the Occupy Wall Street movement, and the influence of nonstop political news.

They also examine public reactions to Mike Tyson's views on Donald Trump and Dennis Rodman's relationship with North Korea.

The Tutor Controversy and Employment Law

A story about a tutor whose FeetFinder activity is exposed sparks a discussion about public shaming, religious judgment, reputation, freedom of speech, and personal privacy.

The crew also discusses wrongful termination, employment attorneys, and how difficult it can be to challenge a workplace decision.

DNA Testing, NXIVM and Cult Psychology

Could an ancestry DNA test reveal relatives you never knew existed?

That conversation leads into a discussion about the NXIVM cult, manipulation, the desire to belong, and why people sometimes become involved with dangerous organizations or charismatic leaders.

Unfiltered Comedy and Embarrassing Experiences

Of course, this wouldn't be The Mason and Friends Show without the conversation taking an unexpected turn.

An unforgettable toe-sucking story, questionable romantic advice, and the crew's outrageous reactions bring plenty of laughs.

Road Rage, Workplace Safety and Teaching Kids to Drive

The final stretch dives into workplace safety regulations, backup cameras, proper use of mirrors, teaching teenagers to drive in difficult conditions, and the aggressive driving habits that create chaos on the road.

Can you teach someone to be a better driver without scaring them half to death?

And why does everybody think they're the best driver?
